Prayers and Meditations for a Holy Hour

“O Jesus, stretched out upon the cross, I implore You, give me the grace of following faithfully the most holy will of Your Father in all things, always and everywhere. And when this will of God seems to me very harsh and difficult to fulfil, it is then I beg You, Jesus, may power and strength flow upon me from Your wounds, and may my lips keep repeating – Your will be done, O Lord (…) O most compassionate Jesus, grant me the grace to forget myself that I may live totally for souls, helping You in the work of salvation, according to the most holy will of Your Father…” Prayer of St Faustina (Diary, 1265).

PRAYER FOR THE DYING SOULS OF EACH DAY:

Console and comfort all your sick and suffering Lord, O
Merciful Jesus, Lover of souls, We beseech You, by the
agony of Your Most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of
Your Immaculate Mother, wash clean in Your Blood, the
sinners of the whole world, who are now in their agony
and are to die this day. Jesus I beg You, by the
inconceivable power of Your Mercy, let all the souls who
will die this day, escape the fire of hell, even if they have
been the greatest sinners the world has ever known.
May, Your Divine Mercy Jesus, save them all from
eternal damnation. My, Jesus Mercy.

At Your Death, a throng of souls shall come to meet
you, and shall be your crown in eternity. Say this
wonderful prayer as many times as you can each day
and, Be The Mothers and Fathers of the Dying Souls. [Jesus]

Psalm 91

You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence; he will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, or the arrow that flies by day, or the pestilence that stalks in darkness, or the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the adder, the young lion and the serpent you will trample under foot. Those who love me, I will deliver; I will protect those who know my name. When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honour them. With long life I will satisfy them, and show them my salvation.

Vessels of Grace (Meditation)

God is served, only when He is served as He wishes to be served. We must not live in sin and think that we serve God well in our works, and that this is enough for Him. Our prayers and good works have greater efficiency if they are achieved whilst in a state of grace. We are vessels of God’s grace; we receive, freely from Him, the waters of grace and distribute them to those around us through our prayers and acts of charity. However, our vessels must be clean if others are to drink from them. If our lives are pure, then others will see and taste clearly the beautiful grace of God whilst in our presence. If, on the other hand, we are living in a state of serious or habitual sin, how does this reflect upon those around us who come to us to taste of the glorious dew of Heaven? We are the face of God upon the earth, therefore, let there be no blemish within us that will hide from others the radiant smile of the Father.

Prayers

Jesus I adore You; You are my joy and consolation;
You are my heart’s desire and the glory of my soul.
I praise You with all the love that is within my heart.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Dear Lord,
Grant me the love to desire Your will,
The faith to seek Your will,
The wisdom to know Your will,
The humility to accept Your will,
The courage to continue in Your will,
And the strength to complete Your will.
In Jesus name Amen.

FATIMA PRAYERS (Delivered by the Angel of Peace and Mary during the apparitions of Fatima)

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.
My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee! I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee. Amen.
O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy. Amen.

St Faustina’s prayers for Neighbour

O Lord, I want to be completely transformed into Your mercy and to be Your living reflection. May the greatest of all divine attributes, that of Your unfathomable mercy, pass through my heart and soul to my neighbour. Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge from appearances, but look for what is beautiful in my neighbours’ souls and come to their rescue. Help me, O Lord, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to my neighbours’ needs and not be indifferent to their pains and moanings. Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful, so that I should never speak negatively of my neighbour, but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all. Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful and filled with good deeds, so that I may do only good to my neighbours and take upon myself the most difficult and toilsome tasks. Help me, O Lord, that my feet may be merciful, so that I may hurry to assist my neighbour, overcoming my own fatigue and weariness (…) Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my neighbour

Love Not The World (Meditation)

If you wish to know joy in this life and feel at peace within your heart then you must live by virtue in this world and not by appetite. You must desire the Fruits of the Spirit rather than the pleasures of the world. Your conscience must be formed by the guidance of the Holy Spirit rather than by the sensuality of your nature, only then will you know true peace. Your happiness will consist in loving and serving God.

The value of a persons life should not be measured by their material wealth, but by their capacity to love, because love is of God and is eternal, whereas material wealth is temporal and will return to the earth from whence it came.

A soul that possesses love, possesses the only thing of value in this life, because it is the only thing that will survive this world and return to the Creator. Love comes from God and is used by Him to bring forth children. These children are not called to love the world but to love God.

Make love your aim
and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts
(1 Corinthians 14:1)

Litany of Divine Mercy

Divine Mercy, gushing forth from the bosom of the Father, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, greatest attribute of God, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, incomprehensible mystery, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, fount gushing forth from the mystery of the Most Blessed Trinity, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, unfathomed by any intellect, human or angelic, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, from which wells forth all life and happiness, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, better than the heavens, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, source of miracles and wonders, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, encompassing the whole universe, I trust in You
Divine Mercy, descending to earth in the Person of the Incarnate Word, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, which flowed out from the open wound of the Heart of Jesus, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, enclosed in the Heart of Jesus for us, and especially for sinners, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, unfathomed in the institution of the Sacred Host, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in the founding of Holy Church, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in our justification through Jesus Christ, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, accompanying us through our whole life, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, embracing us especially at the hour of death, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, endowing us with immortal life, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, accompanying us every moment of our life, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, shielding us from the fire of hell, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in the conversion of hardened sinners, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, astonishment for Angels, incomprehensible to Saints, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, unfathomed in all the mysteries of God, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, lifting us out of every misery, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, source of our happiness and joy, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in calling us forth from nothingness to existence, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, embracing all the works of His hands, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, crown of all of God’s handiwork, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in which we are all immersed, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, sweet relief for anguished hearts, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, only hope for despairing souls, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, repose of hearts, peace amidst fear, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, delight and ecstasy of holy souls, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, inspiring hope against all hope, I trust in You.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is unfathomable and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy, itself” (Diary 950).
O incomprehensible and limitless Divine Mercy, to extol and adore You worthily, who can? Supreme attribute of Almighty God, You are the sweet hope for sinful man. Into one hymn yourselves unite, stars, earth and sea, and in one accord, thankfully and fervently sing of the incomprehensible Divine Mercy (Diary 951).

PSALM 145

I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.
Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.
And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.
They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.
The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
All thy works shall praise thee, O Lord; and thy saints shall bless thee.
They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;
To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.
The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season.
Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.
The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

“I AM That I AM” (Meditation)

Jesus stands at the door of every person’s heart and knocks that He may enter in. There is no human heart that He refuses to enter into, once He has been earnestly invited. Jesus rejects no one! Not only does He not reject repentant souls, but He tirelessly goes out in search of obstinate ones to draw them to the Father’s love. Every soul is beautiful in the sight of God, for He looks not at the stain of sin that clothes it, but at the child within that is His. Each soul was conceived in love; no soul was created for hell, but all were created to be united to the Father in Heaven.
There is no sin too great that God will not forgive, no offering too small that He will not treasure. He watches over His children with eyes more loving and tender than a mother. He is the Father of truth and justice, the giver and sustainer of life. He is all that is good and holy, and if you were to ask Him, how is it that you are so loving and faithful? He would reply:
“I AM that I AM” (Exodus 3:14).

DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET

Make the Sign of the Cross, then say the following prayer:
“You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
On the first three beads above the crucifix pray, one Our Father, one Hail Mary and The Apostles Creed.
On the large single beads: “Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Thy dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.”
On the Small beads: “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
[Repeat for all five decades]
On the 3 last beads pray three times: “Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
Conclude with the closing prayer:
“Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.”

Prayer to St Joseph

St. Joseph, teacher of inner life, teach us to live day by day in intimate communion with Jesus and Mary and in trusting self-abandonment to the love of God the Father. St Joseph, protector of the Nazareth family, we entrust to you the future of our families; may our homes be welcoming and loving. Help us in the Christian upbringing of our children. St Joseph, you were a model to workers, we entrust to you our daily work; may it contribute to the well-being of all human beings. Help us to accomplish our work in a spirit of service. We pray to you for all those who are in search of work. St Joseph, faithful guardian of the Church, God entrusted to you the protection of the mysteries of salvation; inspire Christians to be faithful witnesses to the Gospel, always and everywhere, at the heart of a world which is so sorrowfully in search of peace and brotherhood. Amen

ANIMA CHRISTI

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O Good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds hide me.
Permit me not to be separated from you.
From the wicked foe, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me
and bid me come to you
That with your saints I may praise you
For ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer for Deliverance

My Lord, you are all powerful, you are God, you are Father. We beg you through the intercession and help of the archangels Michael, Raphael and Gabriel, for the deliverance of our brothers and sisters who are enslaved by the evil one. All saints of Heaven, come to our aid. From anxiety, sadness and obsessions, we beg You. Free us, O Lord. From hatred, fornication, envy, we beg You, Free us, O Lord. From thoughts of jealousy, rage, and death, we beg You, Free us, O Lord. From every thought of suicide and abortion, we beg You, Free us, O Lord. From every form of sinful sexuality, we beg You, Free us, O Lord. From every division in our family, and every harmful friendship, we beg You, Free us, O Lord. From every sort of spell, malefic, witchcraft, and every form of the occult, we beg You, Free us, O Lord. Lord, You Who said, “I leave you peace, My peace I give you,” grant that, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, we may be liberated from every evil spell and enjoy your peace always. In the name of Christ, our Lord. Amen.

An Act of Consecration

O Lord Jesus, You are my light and my life!
All of the love which burns within my heart,
Comes from You, is part of You, and is returned to You.
All that I am I give to You, because all that I am You have made.
My heart, my mind and my soul, are Yours to govern and possess.
By Your grace I have my being, and by Your grace
I am able to love and serve You.
Take this heart of mine, and make it Your own.
I consecrate it fully to Your service.
Let there be no conditions to my love,
No end to my devotion,
No limit to my sacrifice.
Let me live and die for love of You.
Amen.

Prayer for graces

Lord, grant me the grace
To serve You with all of my strength,
To contemplate You with all of my mind,
To love You with all of my heart,
And to offer You my whole life
As a living sacrifice.
Amen

The Gift of Hope (Meditation)

Christ cured our illnesses that we might have the promise of healing. He stilled the storm that we might know where to find peace. He raised Lazarus that we might see His Sovereignty over life. He wept that we might know His capacity to mourn. He multiplied the loaves that we might trust in His ability to provide. He suffered and died that we might know He shares our pain. He rose from death so that we might no longer fear death, and He conquered sin that we might have the promise of a new and eternal life.

Why did Jesus give us these promises of a new life when He knew that the consequences of the fall would remain to test us all? They were given to us as a “Gift of Hope!” One can live without many things but one cannot live without hope: One can live without dignity if one has no pride. One can live without charity if one has no conscience. One can live without honour if one has no self respect. One can live without faith if one has no knowledge of God. One can even live without love if one has no love to share. One can live without many things but one cannot live without hope.

Hope is always needed because it feeds the soul with reasons for living; without hope life seems to hold no purpose. And so it is that Christ promised us “Abundant” life – by bringing to us many gifts, and one of the most precious gifts of all, is the gift of hope.
