Never take credit for your charity, but always give glory to the Holy Spirit who is the author of every good work.

When temptation threatens to overwhelm us, we must claim our victory over it through the merits of Christ’s Passion.

God’s discipline is never a punishment without purpose, but rather a correction for the good. To purge and to purify is another gift of His great Mercy.

The Christian soul must always say, “what good I have ever done was done for love, and He was with me all the way showing me how.”

The Holy Spirit enriches our lives with grace, wisdom and love, all we have to do is open our hearts to receive it.

Never go to bed without reflecting upon your day, searching your conscience and examining your conduct.

When we fall into some imperfection we must not get despondent. God loves us despite our weaknesses and we must remember that if we should become perfect (which is impossible) it only leaves us room for failure. Furthermore, it is our contrition and the love and effort that we put into rising from our falls that gives God the greatest pleasure and glory.

The purest ideals come from the deepest prayers.

If we want to live a spiritual life, we need to acknowledge the value of silence, the need for meditation and the power of prayer.

God’s love is more powerful than all our malice.

To ignore ones inner voice will only bring discontent.

Love demands more than words, it is not enough to say “I love you,” love has to be revealed by the lover and understood by the beloved. Love requires deeds of affection, proofs of fidelity; sacrifice is the purest of all deeds, the summit of all proofs. Jesus, the source of all love, gave the greatest of all proofs, in the noblest of all sacrifices.

Happiness may be found in many things, but true lasting joy cannot be found in any other source apart from Jesus, who is the cause of all joy.

Just as the sunflower turns its head to follow the course of the sun each day, so we must keep our eyes on Jesus, the Light of the World, and follow Him.

We may not love our cross as the Saints before us have done, but if we can learn not to despise it and to carry it for love of Him, then we shall be content in our sufferings.

Our faith is not authenticated unless it has been tried, and like Peter, sometimes we need to step out of the boat and get our feet wet!

Life is not something to be escaped from, though often we try. Life is hard because it is about growth: growth in wisdom, character, faith & love.

Character does not come through just enduring trials, but through learning and using the many lessons trials teach us.
