Why Are People Saved By Believing In Jesus Christ

Have you ever wondered why Christians believe that they are saved by believing in Jesus? Below is a short answer to this question:
Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that Jesus was with God in the beginning, and that through Him all things were made. Jesus came to earth in the form of a man to take upon Himself the punishment for our sins (since the original sin of Adam and Eve, we live in a fallen world which has wounded the nature of every human being). Christ came to restore our fallen nature and deliver us from the burden of sin and death. In suffering and dieing upon the Cross for our redemption Jesus reveals to mankind God’s unconditional love for His children. The Sacrifice of Jesus was needed to appease God’s perfect Justice and to merit for us the grace needed for our salvation. The early Christians (Roman Catholics) also believe that Jesus established a Church (Matt 16:18-20) through which salvation could be brought to all the peoples of the earth and through which He gave us the Bible containing His Word.
One of the reasons we are saved by having faith in Jesus is because we recognise and accept love. Jesus is “love incarnate,” He does not obtain love, He does not produce love, He does not reflect, store or reveal love – He IS love! “God is love, and He who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” (1 John 4:16) In believing in Jesus we are believing in love, living in love - and allowing love to live within us “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” (I Cor 3:16). If love lives within us then we can have no part with Satan because light and darkness cannot co-exist “God is light and in him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5)
The other reason we are saved by believing in Jesus is because we accept, with humility, that we cannot become holy without Him (Jn 15:4), and that salvation comes through faith in Jesus (Rom10:9-12), by the power of His redeeming blood (Rom 5:9) and with the cleansing of our sins at Baptism (Acts 22:16) where upon we are filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that we are able to remain faithful to God by obeying His laws and accepting the teachings of His Church.
None of this would be possible without Christ having first made complete satisfaction for our sins, removing our guilt and restoring our innocence (1 Pet 3:18-22). This He did by taking upon Himself the punishment for our sins (Isa 53:5). His suffering and death upon Calvary was the sacrifice which merited for us the gift of reconciliation with God, the gift of the Holy Spirit within, and the gift of eternal life to come (1 Jn 5:13).
Now the Holy Spirit is with us and He comforts us through all the trials of life, He is within our hearts to ensure our victory. When we fall into some sin God’s mercy is there to grant us pardon, when we repent God’s grace is there to restore us and raise us up once more.
Yes, Christians are saved because they recognise, believe-in and welcome love, and that love is not a something, but a somebody, Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God, who was with the Father in the beginning, and through whom all things exist. (Jn 1:1-5 and 14)
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him” (Jn 3:16-18).
Change your life today! Ask Jesus into your heart; tell Him that you too want to believe in the power of God’s love - that will change your world for the better. Commit your life to Jesus Christ and know the abundance of God’s love and the power of His saving grace which will restore your soul. Experience true joy, a deep and lasting peace and the sure and certain hope that you will enjoy the eternal life to come in the glorious Kingdom of God.
